Wildebeest Migration
The best time to see the Great Wildebeest Migration is from July to October.
In July, the herd leave arid plains of Serengeti in search of greener pasture and water, this is best time to watch the dramatic Mara River Crossings.
In August, most of the wildebeest and their migration companions will have reached Masai Mara National Reserve. They’re being hunted down by very eager hunting party of big cats.
In September, life is good in the verse land of Masai Mara, the herds enjoy relative peace and quiet on the plains. This is the perfect time of the year for epic safari and game drive.
In October, the rain begins to fall and by November the herd start heading back to Serengeti and so never-ending cycle of the Great Migration continues.
Mara Triangle
The Mara Triangle is one third of the Masai Mara National Reserve, with an area of 510-kilometer square. It has to natural borders and one political: to the south west is the Tanzania/Serengeti border, to the east is the Mara River, and to the north west is the Oldoinyio escarpment [also called Oloololo or Siria escarpment].
Divided from the rest of the Masai Mara Game Reserve by the Mara River, the Mara Triangle is less visited and less crowded, often with many more game animals grazing on the plains and between the volcanic hills that distinguish this corner of the Mara.
Mara Triangle has got a fairly good concentration of wildlife all year round including the big five [ lion, leopard, elephant, buffalo and rhino] and diverse plains game such as Cheetah, jackal, hyena, wildebeest, zebra, giraffe, waterbuck and many more.
